Gratitude Is the Secret to Expansion

What you put your attention on grows.

According to the Vedic tradition, you were born a creator. You create what you put your attention on, whether you are conscious of it or not.

This is your life force energy, and if you place it on the worries of your mind, you will experience more things to ruminate about. But if you learn to consciously direct your attention to align with the flow of life, then the next right action will appear.

To experience expansion, your must train your brain to look at things differently.

In Vedic circles, you might hear this referred to as "correcting the intellect." This processing will require some neuronal re-wiring. Gratitude can be of great assistance here.

Gratitude is the secret to experiencing more expansion because it's a recognition of the fullness of life, the ever-expanding outward, which mimics the flow of the universe. When you place your attention on gratitude, you're also, consequently, seeking expansion. When you train your brain to do this daily, you will start to see more things to be grateful for, which will, by default, expand your awareness. It's not magic. It's the law of nature.

But the most important time to express gratitude is when you least feel like it, which can be challenging.

Looking to nature is a great option to help you get into the flow because, like gratitude, it flows outward, inherently expanding in the process.

Here are some examples to get you started:

Look at the abundance of trees in the park, birds in the sky, or sand on the beach.

Even if you live in the city, look for an abundance of pigeons or people walking on the sidewalk. Maybe even the innumerable drops when it's raining.

Take a moment right now - wherever you are, whatever you're doing - where can you see abundance in your environment?

Does this bring you a step closer to experiencing gratitude in the present moment?

As a bonus, notice how you are no longer lost in your head whenever you look for expansion in your environment. When you continually disrupt your habituated responses and choose to interact with your surroundings in the present moment, you are growing the muscle in your brain that helps anchor you in the present moment. And just like the gym, the more reps you do, the stronger you will become.
